This 2025 study in the Journal of Oral Pathology & Medicine investigated royal jelly's effectiveness in treating and preventing medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) in a rat model. Researchers compared groups receiving bisphosphonates (to induce MRONJ) with those given royal jelly either before or after MRONJ induction, assessing healing through micro-CT scans and histological/immunohistochemical analyses. The findings indicated that royal jelly enhanced both soft and hard tissue healing in the MRONJ rats and reduced levels of inflammatory markers, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic or preventive agent for this challenging condition. The study highlights the promising role of royal jelly in managing osteonecrosis.
