This 2025 study in the International Journal of Dental Hygiene explores undergraduate dental professional students' understanding of resilience. Through a focus group of students at the University of Portsmouth Dental Academy, the researchers identified how students define resilience, the factors that bolster or hinder it, and strategies they believe contribute to its development. The findings indicate that students view resilience as a dynamic process of navigating adversity, influenced by personal, social, and environmental elements. Ultimately, this research aims to inform the creation of resilience training programs tailored to the unique challenges faced by future dental professionals.
