Light in Dental Photography

In contemporary dentistry, Dental Photography has taken its place as a very important tool used by dentists and dental technicians. Why Dental Photography? There may be many answers to this question, but the most important part for me is its contribution to the professional improvement of the dentist with standard quality photographs.
As the old proverb says, "A picture is worth more than a thousand words". Sometimes multiple abstract or concrete ideas can more effectively convey their meaning or content with a single still image rather than just a verbal description. Dental Photography allows us to look at our
daily work from different aspects.
The fundamental knowledge underlying Dental Photography's contributions to the dentist is the knowledge of light. If a dentist or dental technician has knowledge of light, they can achieve a true vision of esthetic dentistry. Thanks to the light interactions in both hard and soft tissues, an aesthetic perception including colors and forms is formed. There are factors related to dental tissues and light source in this interaction. In this presentation, basic light information and light factors will be discussed.
