This research article examines the long-term costs and efforts associated with maintaining dental implants with fixed restorations. The study, a 10-year randomized controlled clinical trial, assessed the frequency and expense of dealing with technical and biological complications. The findings reveal that while implant survival rates are high, patients should anticipate additional maintenance and potential complication-related costs. Technical issues, such as screw loosening, were more frequent, while biological complications like peri-implantitis also contributed to increased treatment time and expense. Regular maintenance is crucial, yet complications can still arise, adding to the overall financial burden of implant therapy. The study underscores the importance of informing patients about these long-term considerations before undergoing implant placement.
